The LD Assistant New Ribbon

 The ribbon is composed of a series of panels, which are organized into tabs labeled by task. Ribbon panels contain many of the same tools and controls available in toolbars and dialog boxes.

Some ribbon panels display a dialog box related to that panel. An icon in the lower-right corner of the panel indicates that you can display a related dialog box. Click the icon to display the associated dialog box.

Autodesk Floats Design Tools in the Cloud

Company releases new details on Project Butterfly collaboration tool and outlines plans for cloud computing offerings around MoldFlow and Inventor. Project Butterfly, as described by Tal Weiss, lead software development manager at Autodesk, allows AutoCAD users to view, edit and collaborate in real time on DWG files online. With this cloud computing technology, anyone with a Web browser can log onto a site and access the same version of a file as opposed to the current way many engineering teams collaborate, simply by e-mailing files around. Click here to keep reading

• HP Elitebook 8730w Mobile Workstation - Date: May 4, 2010 - User Rewiew - "I bought this laptop at the end of last year because I needed another tax deduction. I didn't really think it would be something I'd use all that much for another year or two because I got it with Windows 7 64-bit. I work as a software engineer, independent contractor. Most of my clients still use programs that are not compatible with Windows 7.

I was sure surprised at what a great machine this turned out to be. Part of the reason is because Windows 7 has the XP virtual PCs (as a free download from Microsoft), which are so well integrated, unlike previous versions of Virtual PC. So I setup several XP virtual PCs, configured for different clients. Having the 8 GB of RAM allows me to run 2-3 virtual PCs at the same time, no problem. I'm using XP in virtual PCs most of the time, rather than being in native Windows 7, and it works great. You can't even tell that you're in virtual PC, since it runs so fast and smooth. Click here to heep reading
